Nine Lives of Travel Emergencies

So the first near emergency was back in Sevilla when I lost my wallet but found it later, all intact. The second was also in Sevilla when it appeared that our car was stolen out of the parking garage, only to find out that there were two sets of levels 1-5. One above ground and one below ground. No distinction between the sets. Getting in the elevator and pushing level 3 was the correct thing to do, so I thought.

The latest near miss was our first day in Málaga again in the parking garage. I didn’t think it was stolen this time. No, I lost my parking ticket and thought I would end up having to pay for a month or something crazy. I walked 10 minutes back to the garage and found the car.

Good thing I did. I left all the windows open. However, no ticket. I searched twice. Defeated, I started back to the apartment. “No, I am looking again. It has to be there.” I just could not understand it. I don’t lose things I can misplace them, but I don’t lose them. Now in a span of a week, I have lost my wallet, my car and now an expensive parking stub. I completely searched inside and under the car. Nothing. I decided to face the music and find out how much this was going to cost me. The signs near the pay machine were so confusing and they were translated into English. I then went to the parking booth to ask. I found the correct words and asked her what I do if I lost my ticket. She said don’t worry, and asked what my license plate is. Fortunately it was on my car keychain. They printed me a new one just like that. They photograph every car’s license plate on entry. Thank you Big Brother.

Let’s hope that was the last of these near travel problems.

Oh I forgot to mention that the original ticket was in my bag back at the apartment. But had I not thought I lost it, I would have left the windows open for three days.
