Last night Bo was not comfortable in the motel room. He heard someone in the hallway at 4am and from that point on, he barked off and on. I felt bad for my neighbors. But, why the fuck would they stay at Motel 6 if they don’t have a dog?
So needless to say, I was up early and realized quickly that I was not going back to sleep. So why swim upstream? I got up and packed the car. Every time I brought Bo through the hallway and in the elevator to go down 2 floors, I was terrified that another dog, on leash, would be around the corner. Bo sometimes freaks out with other dogs while he or they are on leash. He lunges and barks. Thankfully, I narrowly missed that nightmare in the elevator or the lobby.
So by 6am we were charged, fed and on the road. I crossed the border in Windsor/Detroit. I was worried Bo would bark at the border agent when I rolled the back window down. Instead, he just looked cute and she said “Hi Puppy.” She didn’t ask for his vaccination records either. Smooth crossing over a beautiful bridge to the USA.
Not to scale
I was very fortunate to have left on the Monday July 3rd which was Canada Day. No traffic driving through Toronto. Then Tuesday July 4th the roads in the US were empty. Lots of construction that starts Wednesday.
My Motel tonight is in a really crappy part of Hammond, Indiana. Just south of Chicago. Room stinks. A smoker a few doors down keeps walking past my door which causes Bo to bark. This is going to be a long night.
