So my motel last night was in a very sketch area near the highway, just south of Chicago. When I drove into the parking lot, I saw guys playing dice and several people that looked like they were living there. Not your typical family traveling with kids and their dog.
I knew it would be a long night.
My room was next to a stairway and the ice machine, with my door on the outside. An old woman kept pacing in front of my door with cigaret smoke wafting into my room as Bo barked at her each time she passed.
I knew it would be a long night.
4th of July fireworks were exploding from 8pm to midnight. Bo was a bit freaked out and let it be know to anyone nearby. He barked all night.
I knew it would be a long night.
Around midnight, someone knocked on my door. Bo barked. The stranger knocked, louder. Bo barked and I said “who is it?”
“Hey man. Open up.”
“Who are you? What do you want?” I asked as I looked through the peephole. He looked like a crackhead.
The guy blocks the peephole and says “Come on let me in. I’ll hook you up.
“You have the wrong room.”
“Huh? I can’t hear you with the fireworks. Come on Louie.”
“You got the wrong room and the wrong person.”
“What?”
“Go away!”
He continued knocking and talking for 15 minutes. I eventually had to call the from desk and tell them a crackhead was at my door and wouldn’t leave me alone. They came out and chased him away.
I knew it was going to be a long night.
For the next 4 hours people walked and talked in front of my door and Bo barked each time.
It was a long night.
Finally, at 4:45am I just packed up and left.
It was going to be a long day.
Holy crap David. If I ever go on a trip with you, I’m not letting you pick the hotels.
